At 41 years old, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is officially on the back nine of his NBA career. And he is becoming more vocal about things he has previously remained mum on.
One of those things is the comparisons to an NBA Hall of Famer, who is widely regarded as the greatest of all time. But the narrative surrounding the GOAT conversation has changed as LeBron has racked up the accolades.
LeBron James Gets Honest on Michael Jordan Comparisons
As for the comparisons between him and MJ, LeBron doesn’t believe there is much comparison at all. Because the two of them are completely “different” players.
“I never have compared myself to MJ because our games are totally different,” the All-Star said in a recent interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I have been a point-forward/forward-point my whole life. I have always looked for the past. MJ kind of looked for the shot. Not kind of, he did. He looked for the shot. There are a lot of things where I would say my game is a lot different and a little better than his, but s—, he was f—ing great. We’re both great. We’re both great basketball players.”
He also says that because their games are so different, there are some things that MJ does better than he does. And vice versa.
“There are a lot of things that MJ did better than I do,” James added. “And I think there are some things that I do better than him. That’s just how the game goes. There are a lot of things that I can say in particular. You already know how this conversation is going to be [misinterpreted] by people, man.
With both players having Hall of Fame careers, it is important to appreciate both.
