Rap star Lil Durk has found himself in legal trouble yet again.
The Grammy-winner is currently being held without bail for his role in a 2022 murder-for-hire plot. But his legal team is doing everything in its power to get Durk back home.
Lil Durk Files Motion to Have Murder Case Dismissed
In the rap star’s most recent filing, his attorney, Drew Findling, says that the indictment that he masterminded the murder-for-hire plot lacks context. And for that reason, they want the case to be dismissed.
“The Indictment alleges that the co-conspirators carried out various acts ‘at the direction of’ Mr. Banks. Flying to Los Angeles. Tracking, stalking, and attempting to kill [Quando Rondo] by gunfire. And procuring the firearms and equipment used to do so—it fails to give any specifics. When, where, how, and to whom did Mr. Banks give these alleged directions? To ensure the basic fairness of this trial, the defense is entitled to know,” Findling said in the filing (via AllHipHop).
“What the Indictment fails to tell us are the very things the defense is entitled to know. The ‘operative facts’ underlying the government’s theories of Mr. Banks’ guilt. So there is no allegation here that Mr. Banks physically participated in the stalking and shooting at issue.”
In the superseding indictment, the feds alleged that Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, arranged the shooting of rival rap star Quando Rondo, as retaliation over a November 2020 shooting. One that left Chicago rapper, King Von, dead.
The feds allege that in response to King Von’s murder, Durk put a bounty on Rondo’s head. The feds also allege that in August 2022, Durk arranged for several members of his Only The Family (OTF) crew to fly from Los Angeles to Chicago. Once arriving, he arranged for the crew members to stalk Rondo, who eventually stopped at a gas station. And that’s when the members opened fire — leaving Rondo’s cousin dead.
