The South Side rapper, a mentor of King Von, is the founder of "Only the Family," also known as OTF, a hip-hop collective that is linked to the five Chicago people who have been hit with federal charges in California alleging they were contracted to kill rapper Quando Rondo in retaliation for King Von's killing. Last Friday, Lil Durk was found not guilty of all charges in an emotional trial that marked one step closer to the voice coming home.

The charges included conspiracy to commit stalking, conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, stalking involving a weapon, stalking resulting in death, and use of facilities to commit murder. If he was convicted of these charges, he faced life in prison.

Reports say Durk and his family were very emotional as the verdict was read. Now, he’s speaking out about the victory for the first time.

He took to social media to thank those who held him down.

“Against all odds, we’re stronger together,” he posted. “Allah doesn’t make mistakes. I feel all the love and positive energy. Now let me be free to help save our kids and bring unity back to our communities. I couldn’t have made it this far without my family, my lawyers, and supporters. Freedom. Freedom, Freedom.”

Durk’s trial was handled by Brian Steel and his firm, who previously led the defense of Young Thug in the YSL Rico trial, which they won.

In celebration, former NBA player Quinn Cook gifted one of Steel’s lawyers, Drew Findling, an OTF chain.

More Hurdles For Durk To Clear

Durk has other pending charges against him from separate incidents, so it is unclear if he will be released from jail. He awaits a second trial for racketeering charges. The prosecution motioned to tack those charges onto this case. However, the judge denied it, and now, the racketeering case will be heard in Chicago, Durk’s home city.
