Lil Durk is still waiting for his murder for hire trial to begin. And while he sat in custody, the rao star had a few things to get off his chest.
Lil Durk Sends Message From Federal Custody
On Tuesday (March 31), an audio clip surfaced where Durk talks about the things that have crossed his mind while in federal custody.
The rap star says he is fed up with being used as a “pawn for the culture.” He also says that he feels like it’s his responsibility to “save” the next generation.
“It’s just been sitting on my heart lately just to save this generation, to save these kids… I’m just tired of being a pawn for the culture. Just entertaining it and being ignorant,” he said. “For these kids, we gotta be their heroes.”
Lil Durk is facing a life sentence for his role in a murder for hire.
In the superseding indictment, the feds alleged that Lil Durk arranged the shooting of rival rap star Quando Rondo, as retaliation over a November 2020 shooting. One that left Chicago rapper, King Von, dead.
The feds allege that in response to King Von’s murder, Durk put a bounty on Rondo’s head. The feds also allege that in August 2022, Durk arranged for several members of his Only The Family (OTF) crew to fly from Los Angeles to Chicago. Once he arrived, he arranged for the crew members to follow Rondo, who eventually stopped at a gas station. And that’s when the members opened fire — leaving Rondo’s cousin dead.
Durk’s trial was initially scheduled to begin in January but has since been delayed several times.
