Rap star Lil Durk’s mother, Lashanda Woodard, recently appeared on the Victim or Villain podcast and gave an update on his condition as he awaits the start of his federal trial in August.
Lil Durk’s Mother Gives Update on His Condition
Per Woodard, the rapper is “doing pretty good,” despite his circumstances. And says that every time she talks to her son, it is “never serious.” She also confirmed that the rap star has cut off his signature blonde dreadlocks.
Lil Durk is being held without bail following his October 2024 arrest on murder-for-hire charges.
The feds allege that in response to King Von’s murder, Durk put a bounty on rapper Quando Rondo’s head. They claim that in August 2022, Durk arranged for several members of his Only The Family (OTF) crew to fly from Los Angeles to Chicago. Once he arrived, he arranged for the crew members to follow Rondo, who eventually stopped at a gas station. And that’s when the members opened fire — leaving Rondo’s cousin dead.
During her appearance, Woodard compared the feeling of Durk’s arrest to “losing another child.” She also detailed how she learned of his arrest.
“It hurts. It hurts, like—I couldn’t believe it. And, I knew something [was wrong] because I kept calling his phone, and he didn’t answer. And then I called his sisters, ‘Have you heard from him?’ They like, nah. I texted him, but…so, finally, I got the call. And I’m like, ‘Oh my god,'” she added.
If convicted, Durk faces up to life in prison without parole.
