Lil Kim Pens Heartfelt Letter to Biggie’s Mother, Voletta Wallace Following Her Passing

Lil Kim is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of all time. She etched out a successful career as a solo artist. But she was brought onto the scene by the Notorious B.I.G. also known as Biggie Smalls. Biggie and Kim were from the same neighborhood, Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. And when he got his break in the music industry he brought her up with him, as a member of his music group Junior M.A.F.I.A.

Lil Kim Pens Heartfelt Letter to Biggie’s Mom

Biggie was slain in Los Angeles in 1997, but his mother, Voletta Wallace did everything she could to keep his memory alive. Voletta passed away earlier this month after a long battle with breast cancer. Following her transition, Kim penned a heartfelt letter to Ms. Wallace, thanking her for the impact that she had on her life.

“We spent the last 9-10 years strengthening our relationship which if u know our history that is God’s work,” she wrote.

“But the last 4-5 years were really special because we started to talk, at least once a month. Then eventually once a week then 2-3 times a week. U would send me beautiful photos of yourself and an update of your garden which had become your life. The flowers and crop u planted would come along nicely except sometimes those damn peonies. Everyone who was close to u called u Meema but I called u mommy like a second mom.

Kim’s provocative and sexually liberating style has influenced several of today’s female emcees such as Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and several others.

Recently, legendary rapper Busta Rhymes took the time to give the Queen Bee her flowers.

“Other alumni [are] getting our flowers now,” he said. “Missy got her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mary J. Blige got her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Missy did records with all of them. Mary did records with all of them. Lil Kim did records with all of them.”

He also implored the legendary emcee to get back in the booth.

“All right, Kim. We got to light the fuse, the dynamite stick… It’s time to bust your gun, queen. Time to get active again, queen. It’s time to show Brooklyn who the f*****g queen of the borough is, queen.”
