Lil Nas X found himself on the wrong side of fame last week. Exclusive footage from TMZ showed the Old Town Road creator parading around in a Los Angeles area neighborhood wearing nothing but cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and underpants.
While many of Lil Nas X’s fans found the situation to be humorous, it was no laughing matter for the music star. He had to spend the weekend in jail. And he is now facing a slew of charges as a result of the altercation. And they sound serious.
The Montero creator appeared in court on Monday (August 25), and he was charged with four felonies. Three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty to those charges and was released on a $75,000 bond. But his problems are just beginning. In the initial report, officers said that the music star “charged” at officers following his arrest. Now it is being reported that during the altercation, Lil Nas X was responsible for the injury of three officers. And if he is convicted as charged, he could face up to five years in state prison.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman released a statement on Monday after the star made bail. He called Lil Nas X’s actions a “direct threat to public safety” and noted that he will face “serious consequences.”
“Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety,” Hochman said in the statement. “Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”
Despite being freed from prison, Lil Nas X has yet to release a statement related to the altercation.
