Lil Wayne just pulled off a legendary link-up—and no, your speakers aren’t lying to you. That is Bono from U2 singing the hook on Weezy’s new track, “The Days.”
The reflective banger, dropped June 5. And serves as the lead single from Tha Carter VI. It is Wayne’s first solo album in five years and the first installment in his iconic Carter series since 2018.
Wayne kicks things off with raw introspection. Rapping about aging, legacy, and loyalty—before passing the mic to Bono, who floats in with a hook that sounds like a prayer. “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”
Fans were caught off guard in the best way. There was no lead-up, no single, no tracklist—just Weezy doing what Weezy does. Moving in silence until it’s time to strike.
That strike hit hard during a promo. For the 2025 NBA Finals matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. In the clip, Wayne dropped a snippet from “The Days,” rapping: “I pledge allegiance to what I believe in / Live to fight another day / I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste, that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has his day.”
Speaking on the track’s NBA Finals debut, Wayne called it “an incredible honor” and highlighted how much the game of basketball has meant to him over the years.
But Weezy’s not stopping there.
He’s officially kicking off Tha Carter VI era with a major bang—a record release show at none other than Madison Square Garden on Friday. That show also marks the launch of his Carter VI Tour, which he teased on social media in April.
