With Trump being the Republican presidential candidate that year, he and Weezy’s photo was viewed by some as a ringing endorsement. And with Trump being a controversial figure in his own right, Wayne came under heavy criticism for taking the picture.

However, in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Weezy says that the picture was blown way out of proportion. He says that the photo was just a uniform policy after meeting with the president.
“There were some people in there like, ‘Y’all should take a picture.’ He didn’t even ask for a picture,” Weezy said.
He added: (Trump) says, ‘These m***********s asking me for fucking pictures all f*****g day, man. Can we please?’ I said, ‘It’s the President. OK.’ (Trump) was like, ‘Thank you. B****s (been) bothering me all day.’
Wayne also says that he doesn’t care about any of the backlash that he received from others after taking the photo.
“F**k no, I don’t care about no backlash for nothin’ I do, you know me, man. My mama would have been mad if I ain’t smile. That might have been the only backlash I would have worried about.”
Wayne is just one of a handful of rappers who have supported President Donald Trump. Among the others are Kodak Black, Former NFL star turned rapper Antonio Brown, as well as Kanye West.
In addition, rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hollow were present at one of his rallies in 2024 and Nelly performed at his inauguration in January. Like it or not Trump has become a fixture in the hip-hop community.
