Lil Wayne has steadily been picking up headlines over the past few weeks. Now, in a new interview with Barstool, it appears he has more to share about upcoming music.
What Did Lil Wayne Say About The Album?
While on Wake Up Barstool, Lil Wayne dropped a bombshell to the hosts. The legendary rapper unveiled his next plans are likely a new Tha Carter album, at least, he thinks so.
“I’m not sure if we going to just name my next album Tha Carter VII, but I got albums coming as well,” Lil Wayne said. “But I don’t know when, if they going to just name it Tha Carter VII or they’re going to wait for another album and name it that, you know. But I got music for days.”
Weezy didn’t offer many details besides that tease, but logistically, it would make sense to invoke a series that’s well beloved.
Lately, fans seem to think Wayne’s quality control has taken a hit, with his recent output. Both his album and mixtape scores haven’t reached over a 70 score on AlbumOfTheYear.org since 2018’s Tha Carter V. Meanwhile, his last album, Tha Carter VI didn’t fare too well with fans or critics, with both complaining about tired raps, weak bars, unruly beats, a bloated track list, and of course — Jelly Roll.
For Wayne’s part, he’s been feeling underappreciated lately after going on a short X rant about Coachella and other big festivals not booking him recently.

What Else Is Going On With Lil Wayne?
Tunechi made more headlines on Tuesday (May 26th) when TMZ revealed the rap star is reportedly engaged. The fiancé is allegedly a woman in her 20s from Indiana. The couple have chosen to keep identity and the matter at hand private for now.
This would be Wayne’s fourth engagement, with two of them splitting before the altar, and the other, longtime love interest Toya Johnson, being married to the Louisiana rapper for two years between 2004 and 2006. She is the mother of his eldest daughter Reginae Carter.
