Lil Wayne Teases New Single Off Carter 6
Wayne appears to be letting the work speak for itself. In the days leading up to the album, there had been no single or tracklist for the project. But as many expected, Weezy had a trick up his sleeve.
On June 5, Weezy debuted a snippet. From a new song titled “The Days” featuring Bono from legendary rock band U2. The track was used in a promo. For the 2025 NBA Finals matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers.
“I pledge allegiance to what I believe in/ Live to fight another day,” he raps. “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better/ No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure/ They say every dog has his day,” Weezy raps in the song.
Following the release of the promo, Wayne acknowledged how big of a role the sport has played in his life.
“Basketball’s been in my blood since day one, so to team up with ESPN less than 24 hours before the drop of Tha Carter VI for the NBA Finals is an incredible honor,” Wayne said in a statement via Billboard. “My music and the NBA are vibing on the same frequency because it’s perfect timing for fans to hear Tha Carter VI on the game’s grandest stage.”
Curtis Friends, vice president of sports marketing at ESPN, said that collaborating with Weezy for the NBA Finals was essentially a no-brainer.
“Lil Wayne brings the energy, edge, and emotion that define the NBA Finals,” Friends said.
“Integrating his music into our NBA Playoffs coverage has been a strategic brand flex — amplifying our storytelling and connecting with fans as we showcase today’s rising stars on the league’s biggest stage.”
