Lil Yachty has gone viral for making yet another controversial statement.
During a recent appearance on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, the rap artist was asked to give his Mount Rushmore of artists who pioneered the SoundCloud era. And his answer stirred up a lot of debate on social media.
Yachty’s SoundCloud Rapper Mount Rushmore Sparks Debate
Yachty listed himself, Lil Uzi Vert, XXXTENTACION, Lil Peep, and Playboi Carti.
“In my opinion, I always said it was me, Uzi, X– like we’re talking actual SoundCloud. In my opinion, I’ll probably get some flak for this, but I’d like to say, Lil Tracy. Oh, and Carti. I think my Rushmore is me, Uzi, Carti, X, and Lil Peep,” he said.
However, there was one omission that stuck out like a sore thumb — Juicewrld. He launched his career on the platform around 2015 under the name JuicetheKidd before gaining global attention. However, despite being one of the most prominent artists on SoundCloud, Yachty says he doesn’t feel like Juice was a part of the SoundCloud era.
“Juice really wasn’t a part of our era,” he noted. “He came after us. I remember in that era, X was going crazy. I remember Tay K was going crazy, I think Tay K would’ve been huge [if not for] his situation.”

His comments sparked a major discussion on social media.
“No juice wrld? fake brother,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Ppl saying juice, trippie, summrs don’t know what the purpose of a mt rushmore list is, it’s for the founding fathers,” another user added.
“Take himself out and Carti(maybe) for Denzel and Ski Mask(maybe) lowkey,” a third user chimed in.
Soundcloud was a major stepping stone in how music is consumed presently. It allowed artists to independently produce and distribute music. And gave them an avenue directly reach audiences without needing the assistance of a major music label.
