Atlanta rapper Ludacris is no stranger to giving back to the community. But this week, he gifted a young teen with terminal cancer a dream come true.

What Did Ludacris Do?

16-year-old Leeland Harris battled osteosarcoma, a horrific form of bone cancer that sadly spread to his lungs and elsewhere. But during the trying times, one thing kept his spirits up — music.

The Atlanta teen was an aspiring producer, who learned piano from his hospital bed. He also taught himself how to make beats, not letting the disease crush his ambitions.

Tragically, the young fighter ran out of treatment options, making his cancer terminal. When Harris was asked what he wanted to do before his demise, his request was simple: cook with some of Atlanta’s best rappers.

When word got out about Harris’ dying wish, Ludacris sprung into action, inviting Harris backstage to his Piedmont Park show, and rallying some top notch talent to link with him.

Luda, Sean Paul, Yung Dro, and more chopped it up with the young fighter, sharing game and admiring his courage. Despite his terminal diagnosis, Harris decided to keep fighting for a treatment, and hoped that if he didn’t make it, his efforts could help one day lead to another child being cured of the same cancer.

Sadly, Harris succumbed to his cancer a week ago, but leaves behind a legacy of heart, bravery, and proof that no matter what you’re going through, to never let fate win.

A Message To Harris’ Family

We at According2HipHop deliver our deepest condolences to the Harris’ as they mourn their son. His story touched our hearts, and we hope his legacy can live on through his refusal to sit down and let cancer win without a fight.
