Mack Maine is opening up about a tragedy no parent ever wants to face.
The longtime Young Money president revealed on Monday (July 29) that his 20-year-old son, Isaiah—affectionately known as Zeke—passed away earlier this month after suffering a seizure at his home in California. The news was shared in a deeply emotional Instagram post on Maine’s birthday, a date already filled with grief as it also marks the two year anniversary of his own father’s death.
“I’m still in shock and still processing the fact that he’s gone,” Maine wrote alongside a carousel of family photos. “Still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me.”
Zeke’s passing occurred on July 16, and Maine took nearly two weeks to find the words to address it publicly. In his tribute, the New Orleans native reflected on the life-changing experience of fatherhood and the powerful bond he shared with his son.
“Zeke I thank you for granting me with one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received, Fatherhood! The experience and bond with you and I brought me purpose… Since July 16th your village has been crushed and we’re hurting,” he wrote. “This is a pain I’ve personally never felt before but I’m still trusting and believing in God’s plan and God’s will and mercy.”
The post closed with a message to both his son and father, whom he lost two years ago. “To Zeke I love you and I know I’ll see you again… To my Pops I miss you big dawg and I know you met Zeke on the other side with open arms,” he continued. “I vow to continue to make y’all proud. I just ask y’all continue to walk with me and pick me up when I fall… I need the strength… Until we meet again… LOVE ”
