Owner of The New York Knicks James Dolan has long been maligned for his shady practices. However, Wired launched an investigation that revealed just how far Dolan allegedly goes in his surveillance.
Who Was Named In The MSG documents?
According to the documents, rappers such as Young Thug, Lil Jon, Freddie Gibbs, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, DaBaby, and many more were labeled “high risk.”
Lily Allen, Morgan Wallen, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss made up some of the names that labeled as medium risk. And Ice Spice, Benson Boone, and Selena Gomez got tagged with low risk. The venue is also reportedly keeping track of celebrities sexual orientation.
According to Wired, MSG officials actively search the internet and social media for anything threatening or negative said by its guests, especially celebrities, VIPs, and very intently, James Dolan. Legendary Hip Hop icon Pete Rock is currently marked as “DO NOT HOST” in the database. Interestingly enough, Rock led a boycott of the Knicks after Dolan had security remove Charles Oakley from the venue. Rock told Wired he thinks this is the reason he’s been banned.
“You can’t stop me from being a Knick fan, but your controlling behavior towards people is very unprofessional,” Rock said.
MSG officials deny these allegations, issuing a statement to Pitchfork saying Wired’s reporting is “inaccurate” and “false.” MSG is looking into legal ramifications against Wired and it’s host Conde Nast.

How Did People React To The News?
Public outcry was loud against MSG, but some of the names listed reacted as well.
“D’F*** I got to do with this?” Freddie Gibbs wrote, with a crying-laughing emoji.
Fans were outraged by the news.
“what can you even say anymore. it’s absolutely absurd,” one user posted.
“Morgan Wallen with 3 arrests and counting and a violent temper medium risk, Lil Jon (who I can confirm having worked with him numerous times is one of the loveliest humans) and has opened multiple schools with Pencils for Promise is high risk. Ok. Got it.,” another user posted.
“You mean like the nazis did?,” another user posted.
So far most celebrities have stayed quiet, though that could change over time.
