The Knicks were riding a 13-game winning streak. Heading into Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. But the Spurs handed them their first loss since April and got themselves right back into the series.
Mase Blames Trump For Knicks Loss to Spurs
On the Tuesday (June 9) episode of It Is What It Is, Mase did not mince words about who was to blame. He wasted no time pointing the finger at United States President Donald Trump. Who became the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals.
“When it all comes down to it, the big difference in this game was that Trump showed up, I gotta be honest,” Mase said as caught by KillaKreww on X. “The fans couldn’t really get into it. They had to be there two hours early. You took the sting away from the fans just so you could say that Trump was in the building.”
Ma$e reacts to the Knicks losing Game 3 to the Spurs and blames Donald Trump for changing the atmosphere in the arena, saying the fans never fully got into the game 😭🏀👀

In response to Trump’s appearance at the Garden tonight, the Knicks PR sent out a statement to ticket holders. Suggesting that they arrive at the arena at least two hours before tipoff. And said that to get into the building, attendees would be subject to a TSA-style screening. And that a strict no-bag policy would be enforced. All of the through traffic in the surrounding blocks surrounding the Garden was also cut off four hours before tip-off.
Mase also called the loss a “morale shifter” and said that he hopes that the Knicks can get things back on track. Noting that if the Spurs were to find a way to win Game 4, it could totally flip the series in their favor.
