Things looked grim for the Los Angeles Lakers after they lost their two stars, Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic, just before the playoffs. And going up against a very game Houston Rockets team, not even LeBron James was enough to convince a lot of people that they had a chance in their first-round playoff matchup.
Mase Blasts Kevin Durant Over Rockets Struggles vs. Lakers
But not even a week later, the Rockets look shellshocked as LeBron and the Lakers have taken a stifling 2-0 lead in the series.
During the Thursday (April 23) episode of It is What it Is, Mase put the blame on Rockets star Kevin Durant.
I’m trying not to say anything negative about [Kevin Durant]. But this reeks of … is he scared of LeBron? That’s the only thing I can think about,” Mase said. “You know how somebody just had your number since they were kids? And he did beat them with Golden State, but I don’t remember any other time he beat LeBron. This is not what Melo would have done. Melo would have run through LeBron. Melo is the only one who gets up for LeBron. This is just sad, this is really sad. I was expecting better.”
However, Cam’ron blamed Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone. He says that they had obvious issues at the point guard position, which went unaddressed throughout the season. And now they are paying for it.
“I blame this entire situation on Rafael Stone, who is the GM of the Houston Rockets,” Cam said. “You knew coming into this season that you didn’t have a point guard, and you didn’t do anything to acquire a point guard. It showed a little bit throughout the season, but because of the height, because of the length, ya’ll were doing great. But now it’s the playoffs, and you don’t have a point guard.
The series will shift to Houston for Game 3 on Saturday Night.
