Master P has one of the most impressive catalogs in hip-hop. Songs like Mr. Ice Cream Man, ” ” Make ‘Em Say Ugh, and Ghetto Dope have stamped his status as a legend in the genre.

Master P Says He Declined $10 Million For Super Bowl Spot

Master P has also been known to get a bag. But he is also wise enough to know that not all money is good money. During a recent conversation with TMZ, the Louisiana native revealed that he once turned down a $10 millon Super Bowl commercial spot from an insurance company. Because they asked him to rap.

“Somebody wanted me to do a Super Bowl commercial – I ain’t gonna say no names. It’s an insurance company,” he explained. “But it’s big, and it’s like, ‘We want you to be a rapper. We want you to rap in a commercial.”

He added:

“I’m like, ‘I’mm ot rapping in a commercial. Like, Kevin Hart is not doing stand-up comedy for Chase on the commercial, so I’m like, ‘Sometimes, you gotta turn down…all money ain’t good money.’”

Charles Oakley Gets Honest About Rapper’s NBA Stint

Master P has lived a thousand lives. Most people know him as the Founder of No Limit Records. But what many people don’t know is that P had a short stint in the NBA.

Master P played in the preseason with the Charlotte Hornets (1998) and Toronto Raptors (1999) but never made a final cut for an NBA roster. One person who had a front row seat to it all was NBA champion Charles Oakley. Oakley was a member of the Toronto Raptors when Master P tried out for the team in 1999.

When asked about Master P’s hoop game, Oakley said that the rap star did have “some talent” but not enough to truly compete for an NBA roster spot.

“It was funny. Because they said that he could play — I had never seen him play. But he did make the road trip, I think. And he got in for a couple of games. You know, he had some talent, but he didn’t have enough talent to make the league,” Oakley said during a recent interview with Art of Dialogue. “But he came out and wasn’t ashamed about it. He hit a couple of threes. But he wasn’t ready, but I mean, hey, he got his shot. At least he got his shot and tried.”

It will be interesting to see what Master P does next.
