Rap legend Master P was recently named the President of Basketball Operations at the University of New Orleans. And he is already trying to bring a different type of flavor to the University.
Master P Wants Lil Wayne to Perform at the University of New Orleans
When speaking with TMZ, the No Limit founder says that one of his first moves in his new position will be attempting to bring in hometown favorite Lil Wayne to the school as a performer.
“I’m bringing some huge talent, but I reached out to Lil Wayne’s management team, so we’re gonna see how that goes,” he said during a recent interview with the outlet. “But if it doesn’t work out [for the first game], we’ve got 11 more home games which we can bring him in.”
He also says he is looking to several New Orleans-based hip-hop artists to perform at the university. Including NBA Youngboy and Boosie. Fans could also see a performance by J. Cole in the future.
“I’m gonna hit up J. Cole. There’s so much talent out here. You got NBA Youngboy, you got Boosie, we got a lot of locals from New Orleans and Baton Rouge and Louisiana that we can hit up first.”
November 8 will mark the official start of Master P’s tenure with the University.
Weezy Talks Super Bowl Snub
Lil Wayne made headlines in New Orleans earlier this year. But it wasn’t for a good reason. New Orleans hosted the 2025 Super Bowl. And being that Lil Wayne has never headlined the halftime show, many felt this would be the perfect time for him to do it.
However, Kendrick Lamar was chosen as the Super Bowl Halftime performance after the success of his 2024 smash hit, Not Like Us. Weezy previously spoke about how “hurt” he was by the decision.
“It hurt a whole lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. And for automatically mentally putting myself in that position, like somebody told me that was my position,” he said. “But I thought there was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt.”
