Megan Thee Stallion is set to appear in court next week as her long-running legal battle against blogger Milagro “Gramz” Cooper officially heads to trial.
According to court documents, Megan’s civil defamation lawsuit will be heard before Chief Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga in Miami on Monday (Nov. 17). The trial marks the latest chapter in a dispute that began in 2024 and has since drawn in several high-profile online personalities—and even an incarcerated Tory Lanez.
Background of the Lawsuit
Megan filed suit against Cooper in October 2024, accusing the blogger of:
- Defamation
- Promotion of an altered sexual depiction
- Intentional infliction of emotional distress
The Houston rapper alleges that Cooper conspired with Tory Lanez and Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, to coordinate an online harassment campaign targeting her after the 2020 shooting incident. According to Megan, this included spreading false rumors and circulating fabricated videos meant to discredit her.
In January, Megan secured a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a prison sentence for shooting her in the foot.
Key Figures Deposed in the Case
The lawsuit has involved an unexpectedly wide circle of media personalities. Both DJ Akademiks and streamer Adin Ross have been deposed as part of Megan’s legal discovery.
Tory Lanez himself was also deposed in prison back in April. However, according to the documents, Lanez:
- Claimed he “did not recall” key events
- Refused to answer certain questions
- Mocked Megan’s attorney during the deposition
The behavior prompted Megan’s legal team to request that he be held in contempt of court.
A judge later ordered Tory to pay Megan’s legal fees as a result of the unproductive deposition and ruled that any future deposition must be supervised by a magistrate judge to prevent similar disruptions.
Tory Lanez’s Latest Legal Maneuver
In September, Lanez filed a protective order asking the court to limit his involvement in the defamation case due to the restrictions imposed by his own criminal conviction and ongoing appeals.
The judge has not yet ruled on the long-term scope of his involvement, but the trial will proceed next week with or without new testimony from him.
What Happens Next
With jury selection and opening statements scheduled for Nov. 17, the trial represents one of the most significant legal battles Megan Thee Stallion has faced outside her criminal case with Lanez. The outcome could have major implications for online accountability, the spread of misinformation, and the growing legal intersection between hip-hop figures and digital media personalities.
Megan has not commented publicly ahead of the trial, but her legal team has signaled they are prepared to move forward.
