Metro Atlanta Middle School Teacher Uses Migos “Bad And Boujee” 2 Teach About The Civil War

Edwards Middle School 2016 Teacher Of The Year David Yancey teaches his Middle School class about The Civil War by rhyming over the Migos hit single “Bad And Boujee”. Yancey changes the lyrics around to match historic facts that took place during the Civil War. This is a practice that Mr. Yancey has been know to do from time to time. Mr. Yancey’s students seem to be very receptive to this method. Learning while having fun doing so has been proven to be effective with this age group.

Mr. Yancey is 31 years old which clearly puts him in the age range to be apart of the Hip-Hop Generation. This could possibly be a method of teaching that we start seeing a bit more often. Hip-Hop culture is a part of not only the youth’s lives of today but still a part of adult’s lives as well. Hats off to Mr. Yancey.
