Ice Cube’s Friday series has become one of the most relevant movie franchises in hip-hop culture. However, the series hasn’t hit the big screen since 2002, when Friday After Next debuted. And fans have since been clamoring for the next installment of the franchise.
Mike Epps Says Upcoming Friday Film Could Be Best Yet
Earlier in 2025, Ice Cube confirmed that the next and final installment of the Franchise has already begun production. And during a recent appearance on the 7 pm in Brooklyn, Podcast, Friday star Mike Epps says that the upcoming release could prove to be worth the wait for fans.
“This might be the best one. I always say that, and I’ve done three or four of them with Ice Cube. But this one, it’s gonna be for the books. Legendary,” he said.
Fans on social media could not help but be excited about the upcoming film.
“Can’t wait, rip to the legends!” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“He capping but I love the build up lol,” another user added.
"This [Friday movie] might be the best one."

One concern from fans has been about the cast of the upcoming film. Several members of the original cast, such as Deebo, played by Tommy Lister Jr, Craig’s dad, played by John Witherspoon, and the pastor, played by Bernie Mac, won’t be a part of the film. As they have all passed away.
As of now, Epps is the only actor who has publicly confirmed he will be in the film. So it will be interesting to see who replaces the roles of the aforementioned legendary actors who have passed away.
As of now, there is also no confirmed release date for the film. But Ice Cube and Epps have both confirmed that the production for the film has begun.
Stay tuned for more updates.
