Cardi B has been involved in plenty of drama, just look at her new album title. However, many times, it’s unwarranted, which is the case for the latest controversy.

Things began when Love brought up how being light skin helps peoples careers, referencing a Cardi B livestream where Cardi said she got her spot by hard work. However, what Love didn’t know was the clip she watched was taken out of context. This led to Cardi getting dragged online, which she responded too.
“I know that colorism is real I never denied that I seen it for myself,” Cardi posted. “When I worked in the strip club, I seen how men treated me and how they treated dark skin women. I can never dismiss how colorism affects dark skin women and men in general. Not just in the work place but in the justice system as well. And I have stood up for it plenty of times.”
She continued.
“Am i upset with Mona?? Yes!! You been in my DMs for years asking me about personal advice… surgery advice.. and career advice. If my success is because of my light skin why you asking me how to pitch yourself and how to get brand deals?? We have talked about so many different things and out of all the things we talked about why you couldn’t ask me about a 13 second clip you saw from a 15 minute live in 2024 where i addressed everything that you bringing up? You went out your way to make a video with no context when this wasn’t even a topic on no blogs and no platforms.”
Mona Love Apologizes To Cardi B
Love responded to Cardi while speaking on The Joe Budden podcast.
“I apologize. I DM’d Cardi when she first said anything because, like I said on the pod, like I really didn’t think that she would like be heard or upset about it and that never was my intention,” Love said. “Like her saying that I’m the cause of her being dragged right now, like that s*** makes me feel horrible. Like I wouldn’t want nobody to experience that s***.”
Budden replied that while it wasn’t Love’s intention to center Cardi around the colorism conversation, she ultimately didn’t need to involve Cardi. He made it clear though he didn’t think Love meant it that way.
“If I knew that clip was edited, that clip was either, even if it wasn’t edited, if I knew it was that old, it would have been a total different response from me. I just got to step the f*** up and get on some real drill. I know people probably hear this like, ‘Duh, you should research everything you talk about,’ but the truth is people don’t. So um I, speaking for me, I just got to tighten up like that, because this was avoidable.”
