Jay-Z has expanded his portfolio to several business ventures. And earlier this year, HOV attempted to try his hand at the gambling business. After entering a bid to open up a casino in Times Square in New York City. However, his bid was rejected. On the other hand, Nas was successful in securing a bid to open a casino in his hometown of Queens.

After Nas’s bid was passed, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. threw shade at Jay-Z during a press conference. In an attempt to reignite Jay-Z’s feud with Nas.

“There’s a theme in Queens, and I know that Nas was a part of this: Queens get the money. Sorry, Jay-Z, we win again,” Richards said. “You can let the Brooklyn borough president know that I send my regards to him.”

Nas Sounds Off on Fan Reactions to He & Jay-Z’s Casino Bids

During a recent sit-down with Rolling Stone, Nas was asked about fans using his and Jay’s casino wars to relive their infamous rap beef. Nas believes that although he and HOV have put their issues behind them, their rap beef is a part of history that will always be talked about.

“It is just a thing that some people are going to talk about. No one has any control over things like that,” he said. “I still study Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. Some rap fans just like to go off on those things from time to time. That’s it.”

Jay-Z and Nas had one of the highly publicized beefs in the history of hip-hop. Even though HOV dropped a scathing diss track, Takeover, Nas’s Ether is widely regarded as the greatest diss track ever.

However, former Roc-A-Fella artist, Memphis Bleek, has a different perspective on Jay and Nas’s feud. He believes that although some believe that Jay-Z lost the battle with Nas, Roc-A-Fella ultimately won the war.

“I’m never going to agree with the fans. They try to say Ether was the best diss record in the Jay-Z and Nas battle. We can’t argue with the fans,” he said. “But you know what we’re going to do. We’re going to make a classic album. …  That’s how you win a war. You can lose a battle, but you have to win the war.”
