Memphis Grizzlies big man Brandon Clarke passed away on Monday (May 11). And it has sent shockwaves through the NBA community.

Clarke’s death was sudden. He was just 29 years old and seemingly had his whole career ahead of him. But that all came to a screeching halt on Monday. Following his death, tributes began to pour in from Clarke’s current and former teammates.
“Everything he’s gone through in the time I’ve been in Memphis, he still came in with a smile on his face. And there was a light in the locker room. Truly an inspiring person. Memphis won’t be the same without you. RIP BC,” Grizzlies point guard Jaylen Wells posted on his Instagram story after the news broke.
“I’m so f****n hurt, man. Really, my dawg. My Virgo twin. I love you so much, brother. I wish I could have been there for you. I’m so f*****g hurt, man,” Clarke’s former Grizzlies teammate, Kyle Anderson, chimed in.
“One of my favorite teammates and people ever. Fly High, King,” former Grizzlies player Lamar Stevens chimed in.

Clarke’s cause of death has yet to be confirmed. However, according to a report from TMZ Sports on Monday, the former Gonzaga standout’s death is being investigated as a “possible overdose.” After officials said they found drug paraphernalia inside the home where he was staying.
The outlet also reports that Clarke was facing serious legal issues. After he was arrested for and charged with felony trafficking after authorities say they found illegal narcotics in his vehicle during an April traffic stop.
