NBA YoungBoy will not face charges after being a passenger in a vehicle where drugs were discovered during a recent traffic stop in Utah.
According to KUTV, a Utah Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 15 on Wednesday (Dec. 31). The car was occupied by YoungBoy, a male driver, and a female passenger. During a search of the vehicle, officers found drugs and a significant amount of cash. Police say the driver and the female passenger admitted the drugs belonged to them, and YoungBoy was not charged.
“I do believe there was money in the vehicle, but it didn’t seem to be any kind of tie to the drugs,” said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander. He added that, after consulting with the Utah County Attorney’s Office, authorities decided charges would be pursued only against the two individuals who claimed ownership of the drugs.
The identities of the two people charged were not released. YoungBoy, who has been living in Utah since 2022, recently wrapped up his successful MASA Tour in November.
The incident comes amid YoungBoy’s complicated legal history in the state. In 2024, he was arrested while on house arrest and charged in separate cases involving prescription drug fraud and gun possession. He later entered plea deals and was sentenced to 23 months on the gun charge. He was released last April and received a pardon from Donald Trump in May.
