Baton Rouge rapper NBA YoungBoy is being recognized for a heartfelt act of generosity after stepping in to cover funeral expenses for a 10-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in an accidental shooting.
According to reports, Kimani Thomas was killed on March 10 in a heartbreaking incident along Government Street. The young girl was outside a vehicle while her mother and stepfather were transitioning between work shifts. During that time, a younger relative inside the car reportedly picked up a firearm and accidentally discharged it, striking Kimani. She later succumbed to her injuries.
In the midst of grief, Kimani’s mother took to social media to publicly thank NBA YoungBoy for his support.
“I know Baton Rouge love to say all the bad things people do. But I want to be the first to say publicly thanks to NBA YoungBoy and whomever may be a part of his team tonight,” she wrote. “As I type this with tears in my eyes, my baby Kimani funeral is officially paid for!”
The gesture carries even deeper meaning, as Kimani was reportedly a fan of the rapper. Her mother added, “I know she dancing her tail off full of joy!”
In a city often defined by headlines of tragedy, this moment highlights a different narrative—one of compassion, community, and stepping up when it matters most.
