News started to circulate on Monday with reports that the Baton Rouge rapper was released from federal prison. According to DJ Akademiks and online prison records, NBA YoungBoy may have been transferred to a halfway house or sent directly home, though official confirmation is still pending.
YoungBoy Never Broke Again, born Kentrell Gaulden, was sentenced to 23 months in federal custody on gun possession charges in December 2024, with a scheduled release date of April 26, 2025.
Gaulden pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm last September after he got caught with two guns during a music video shoot back in September 2020. The rapper has faced multiple legal battles since, including his April 2024 arrest in Utah on charges related to identity fraud and prescription drug forgery.
NBA YoungBoy Still Releasing Music Amid Legal Troubles
Rumors about NBA YoungBoy’s early homecoming started last month while he was rolling out his latest project More Leaks. The collection of fan-favorite snippets and previously unreleased only served to magnify much of his appeal to fans.
His commercial success is nothing to sneeze at either. YoungBoy was recently acknowledged by the RIAA as the only artist of the past ten years to secure eight Platinum albums.
As of now, NBA YoungBoy has not publicly addressed his release or future plans. However, fans speculate that his newfound freedom could lead to new music and projects in the near future.
