Earlier this month, rap star Nicki Minaj announced the release date of her sixth studio album. The upcoming project drops on March 27, 2026.
Nicki Minaj Appears to Target Jay-Z, Desiree Perez on Upcoming Single
Over the weekend, Minaj announced the title of the first single off the new EP. It is titled, The Straw That Broke the Camel’s Back. And it features some interesting artwork. The accompanying cover art for the new single appears to be Jay-Z portrayed as a camel. Roc Nation CEO, Desiree Perez, is also riding on his back.
“The first song on the new album is called 1. The straw that broke the camel’s back,” Minaj wrote in a social media post that has since been deleted (via LiveBitez).
She also adds:
“I’ll unlock number 2 next week. Surprises for lots & lots of [people]. They have no clue [detective emoji]. Oh, Barbz, you’re awesome. What are you guys wearing for release week? It’s 6 months away. 3/27/27.”
Nicki & Jay-Z’s Beef Explained
To bring things up to speed, Minaj’s issues with Jay-Z began after Lil Wayne was not chosen to headline the Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans last February. As part of his partnership with the NFL, Jay-Z and Roc Nation choose the talent for the halftime show. However, Kendrick Lamar got the nod.
This led to outrage from Minaj. And she expressed herself in a social media tirade, aiming at the Roc Nation boss.
“Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” she wrote on social media in September 2024. “So your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!! NOLA, what’s good?!!!!!!”
Since then, Minaj has gone on several rants in which she accused HOV and Roc Nation President, Desiree Perez, of trying to censor her and even plotting a conspiracy against her. However, despite several attacks from the Pink Friday creator, Jay-Z has yet to issue a response.
