Nicki Minaj has been making constant headlines recently. Now, it appears she has legal troubles as well, but not by an outside party. Instead, her own legal team is taking her to court for unpaid work.
Why Is Nicki Minaj Being Sued?
Law firm Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP filed a lawsuit claiming the New York rapper owes them around $230K. The firm represented her in a copyright infringement case in 2024, which they claim she never paid them for. Minaj and the party that sued her elected to dismiss the case.
However, the law firm who represented her was still entitled to some payment, and they claim she’s blown them off multiple times. TMZ also reports Minaj didn’t respond to the lawsuit at all, which means the court has defaulted against her.
A judge will make the final call in September, where they’ll decide on filing the default. If they decide this, Minaj would lose the case without ever getting a chance to defend.
Minaj has had multiple lawsuit issues, including getting sued for a no show at a concert.

What Else Has Minaj Done?
During a podcast appearance, Minaj got into why she thinks she’s faced so much criticism recently.
“There definitely is a group of people that have made things very difficult for me, but I don’t know if they’re Illuminati,” Nicki Minaj said. “I don’t know what they are. I always was looking at it as if this was a personal issue that one person didn’t really like me and they happened to be in a position of power and they were able to use their influence to make people go against me. And because they couldn’t get certain money with me that they wanted the money not to come to me. I never looked at it as if it was like an entire secret society against me. But who knows.”
Minaj, a devout Trump supporter, had planned to drop an album this year, but it seems like that’s not coming anytime soon. After she went fully public with her endorsement of the President, her record label, Republic, issued a statement to the Wall Street Journal.
“As Nicki Minaj’s record label, we do not comment on her political activities. When she’s ready to discuss music, she knows how to reach us.”
Minaj did not discuss making new music in the interview.
