2026 was supposed to be a big year for Nicki Minaj. Toward the end of 2025, the pop star revealed that she had a new album. Slated to drop on March 27 of this year. However, that no longer appears to be the case.
Nicki Minaj Nixes March Album Release Date
Minaj uncorked a series of flagrant social posts on the night of the Grammy’s on Sunday (February 1). And amid her rant, she says that she no longer plans to drop the album in March. As she is demanding a new contract.
“Maybe it’s time for me to do some story times. Since I was trying not say what I know — yet they continue to attempt bullying. Also, I won’t be releasing an album until my contract is renegotiated & until I tell you about all the sabotage this RICO is finding out about Billboard,” Nicki wrote in a social media post on Sunday (February 1).
Minaj has been signed to Republic Records since 2021, and is the founder of Heavy on It Records, which is a subsidiary of Republic.
However, from the time Nicki announced that her album was dropping, fans were skeptical whether she was really dropping. Especially because she made the announcement right around the same time her longtime nemesis Cardi B released her sophomore album, Am I The Drama?
After Minaj announced her release date, she and Cardi both uncorked a spree of scathing social media posts. They took shots at each other’s careers, romantic partners, and even each other’s children.
Now it appears as if it was all for naut as there doesn’t appear to be a plan for the album going forward.
Stay tuned for more updates.
