The hip-hop community is still digesting the sudden passing of hip-hop super producer BryTavious Chambers, better known as Tay Keith. The latest person to react is rap star Nicki Minaj.
Minaj Pays Homage to Tay Keith Following His Passing
During an X Space on Saturday (June 20), Minaj reacted to Tay Keith’s sudden passing. And paid homage to the producer, whom she described as “beyond talented.”
“I heard about the passing of Tay Keith, and it’s such a tragic loss. I’m sending my condolences to his family and his fans, and the artists who had the pleasure of working with him,” Minaj said as caught by Complex. “I don’t believe I met him, but I was on one track as a feature (“Pound Town 2”) that he did, and he was clearly so beyond talented. What a talented, talented person gone so soon.”
The producer’s passing was confirmed on Thursday (June 18) after he was found unresponsive in his Memphis apartment. Police said that they were called to the apartment to do a welfare check. And say that they don’t suspect that foul play is involved in his death.
Tay Keith had become a household name in the hip-hop community over the years. His “Tay Keith f**k these n****s up” producer tag became well known across the industry. Especially after producing hit records like Blocboy JB and Drake’s Look Alive, and Beyoncé’s Before I Let Go.
In a statement released over the weekend, Tay Keith’s family said that even though he is no longer physically present, they take comfort in knowing his legacy will live on. Through the countless hit records he has produced, which will continue to be played for years.
The producer’s cause of death is still pending as the family awaits his autopsy results.
