Nicki Minaj has made one thing very clear in 2025. She will not hold back on anybody who aligns themselves with Jay-Z and Roc Nation. And former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant became her latest target over the weekend.
Nicki Minaj, Dez Bryant Trade Jabs on Social Media
Over the weekend, Minaj called out Bryant over his July 2014 arrest for allegedly assaulting his mother, Angela Bryant.
“Go beat your mom & then ask Desiree Perez & JAYZ why they’ve ALLEGEDLY been the vile cunts they’ve been to so many black ppl while lining their own pockets & weaponizing racism to keep black ppl blinded from their truth,” Minaj wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on August 3.
Bryant then hit back at the hitmaker. Calling out her husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender after being convicted of rape in 1995.
“Say b***h I didn’t go to jail or touch my mama.. I was defending myself.. I removed her nails from my skin. Folks know I was dealing with some corrupt s**t in Dallas .. I don’t get how you can even be on the internet with your husband being a sex offender.. You said we are speaking facts, weird h*e.. so come on,” he said.
Origin of Nicki & Dez’s Beef Explained
This all started because of Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons requested a trade from the franchise on Friday, August 1.
In addition to the trade request, Parsons also released a statement detailing his disappointment with the Cowboys’ front office.
Amid the friction with Parsons’ Cowboys owner and General Manager, Jerry Jones, detailed a time where he had similar problems during Bryant’s contract negotiations with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which prompted Dez to send a stern warning to the Cowboys owner.
“JERRY JONES, I DON’T THINK IT’S SMART TO MENTION MY NAME. I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR SHIT.. ON SOME G SHIT…WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THAT’S WHAT WE ARE DOING,” he wrote on social media.
That prompted Minaj to attempt to entice Bryant to engage with her in the slander of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, as one of the athletes who used to be represented by their sports agency.
“Hey, it’s Nicki Minaj. How about we play a game? Every time you do a “Jerry Jones” or “NFL” story time, I’ll do a “story time” of my own,” she said.
However, Dez was not interested in collabing with Minaj, which led to her making him a target instead of an ally.
