The Cullman, Alabama native was the artist behind works such as Mr. 256, Clutchworld, and I am Legend 2. He was fatally stabbed in his hometown on Sunday, June 1.
Oso Clutch’s Killer Won’t Be Charged
Following the rising rapper’s tragic passing, Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker deemed Oso Clutch’s death a justifiable homicide. Under Alabama’s Stand Your Ground Law. For reference, it was the Florida Stand Your Ground Law that acquitted George Zimmerman. In the highly publicized Trayvon Martin murder trial.
“After speaking with Cullman County Sheriff’s Office investigators and reviewing the evidence surrounding the death of Matthew R. Hall, aka OSO Clutch, I have determined this was a justifiable homicide. Under Alabama’s Stand Your Ground Law,” Crocker said in a statement via The Cullman Tribune.
In addition, the Cullman District Attorney added that Oso Clutch was the aggressor during the incident.
“Mr. Hall was the initial aggressor. As unfortunate as this situation is for Mr. Hall, his family, and friends, not every homicide is a murder,” he added. “Alabama law allows individuals to justifiably use deadly force if they reasonably fear for their safety or the safety of others. That is what the evidence suggests in this case.”
There also had been a beef brewing between the rapper and his killer.
According to the District Attorney, a Protection for Abuse (PFA) was ordered against the rapper last month due to Oso Clutch’s “ongoing harassment and threatening actions” against the owner of the property where he was fatally stabbed.
Despite the other party not being arrested for their role in the incident, Crocker did say that the evidence would be presented in front of a grand jury for “future review.”
May Oso Clutch rest in peace.
