Big Boi and André 3000 made the cut after being on the ballot for the first time. The duo is joined in this year’s performers category of honorees by Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
The 2025 class also sees Salt-N-Pepa being honored with the Musical Influence Award. This makes six consecutive years that one or more rap acts has been in the induction class.
Big Boi celebrated the historic achievement on Instagram, writing: “Rock n Roll Hall of Fame! The last infinity stone in the Thanos Glove! @outkast is everlasting.”
In February, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum named Outkast as one of 14 nominees for this year’s ceremony.
With this induction, the duo become part of an exclusive group of only 15 hip-hop acts to receive the honor. A Tribe Called Quest became the most recent rap group to cross the threshold last year.
Whether Outkast will reunite for the November 8 induction ceremony in Los Angeles remains uncertain. If they do, it would mark their first time sharing a stage in over a decade, following the end of their festival reunion tour in 2014.
