Pharrell Williams’ legal team has issued a formal response to accusations from Chad Hugo, who alleged that Pharrell withheld funds connected to their work with The Neptunes and N.E.R.D..
In a statement shared with USA Today, Pharrell’s team said a standard accounting review is already underway. They emphasized that the process will determine whether any money is owed and made it clear that any findings will be handled appropriately.
“If the accounting review determines that money is owed, the appropriate party will pay it,” the statement read. “Pharrell has consistently acted in good faith. He has great respect for Chad and looks forward to resolving this in a way that honors their shared history.”
The response signals an attempt to de-escalate tensions between the longtime collaborators, whose partnership helped shape a defining era of hip-hop and pop music. While the review continues, both sides appear focused on resolution rather than prolonged public dispute.
