Once again, rap star Playboi Carti has found himself in hot water. The Chicago-born artist was recently arrested on assault charges. According to a October 18th report from TMZ, the 30 year old allegedly punched his girlfriend and his limo driver which led to his arrest.
Playboi Carti Arrested on Assault Charges
Police received a call from limo driver, Carl Reynolds on October 2. Stating that the rap star assaulted him and his girlfriend while he was driving them to a rehearsal.
According to the report the rapper and his other half got into a “heated argument” about sex. And when the limosuine driver tried to intervene, the rap star threatened to beat up the both of them.
Reynolds claims to have never actually saw Carti punch his significant other because he was driving. However, he does recall seeing her “hunched over holding near her chest” according to the police report. Which prompted him to pull over to a safer location.
“(The driver) stated the fight was escalating to a point he was uncomfortable and wanted to de-escalate and separate them. The client had two SUVs for service and the security guard was in the other one. (The driver) stated he contacted him and informed him he wanted them (in) different cars,” the police report reads (Via KSL).
According to TMZ after Carti’s limo driver contacted his security who was riding in a separate vehicle to intervene. While his significant other was exiting the vehicle, the rap star punched Reynolds in the face leading to a brief scuffle that left the limo driver with significant injuries. Including a “bruised, swollen jaw and a whiplash effect .” Carti’s security broke up the scuffle and shortly after, the police were called to the scene.
The rap star has not released a statement about his recent arrest. Stay tuned for more updates.
