Playboi Carti is set to face his first court hearing next week as his misdemeanor assault case continues to move forward in Utah.
A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday (Jan. 27) in Wasatch County Court, marking the first formal proceeding since Carti was charged last October. The case stems from an alleged incident during a tour stop in Utah involving a limousine ride.
According to court records, Carti—born Jordan Carter—is accused of assaulting a limo driver, Carl Reynolds, and a woman during a heated argument. Reynolds told authorities he pulled the vehicle over and refused to continue the ride after allegedly witnessing Carti punch his girlfriend in the chest. The situation reportedly escalated when Carti then struck Reynolds in the face.
A police report also states that Carti admitted to punching the driver, claiming it was because Reynolds “stopped in a weird place and dropped them off.” The female victim was not identified in the report.
As the legal process unfolds, the upcoming hearing will determine how the case proceeds and whether it moves closer to trial.
