Federal prosecutors are claiming that Lil Durk placed a $1 million bounty on Quando Rondo in 2022, according to newly filed court documents.
On Jan. 23, the government submitted a second supplemental memorandum opposing Durk’s request for additional details about the allegations ahead of his upcoming murder-for-hire trial. Prosecutors argued that their case is already clear and that the defense is not entitled to “a roadmap” of how the government plans to prove it.
In the filing, prosecutors state that a cooperating witness is expected to testify that Durk—born Durk Banks—told members of Only The Family that anyone who killed Quando Rondo would be “made straight,” meaning heavily rewarded. The government further alleges Durk used trusted associates to recruit hitmen to fly to Southern California in August 2022, promising a $1 million payout for carrying out the killing in Los Angeles.
The alleged plot was said to be retaliation for the 2020 death of King Von. While Quando Rondo was not killed, his cousin was shot and killed during the attempted attack.
Durk was arrested in October 2024 and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His trial, originally expected to begin earlier this year, is now scheduled for April 21.
