Lil Durk already has a steep hill to climb in his upcoming murder-for-hire trial. And prosecutors are looking to make that hill even steeper.
Feds Fighting to Use Durk Music as Evidence During Trial
According to a report from Complex on Monday (February 3), the prosecutors from Durk’s upcoming trial are fighting to use his lyrics as evidence.
According to the outlet, prosecutors have gathered “nine music videos and three audio files, which they argued are all relevant to the case.”
In the indictment, the feds alleged that Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, arranged the shooting of rival rap star Quando Rondo. Prosecutors believe that the ambush was a retaliation for the 2020 shooting that left Durk’s cousin, King Von, dead.
Durk appeared to insinuate that he did indeed get revenge in his feature verse on Nardo Wick’s 2021 hit “Who Want Smoke.”
“They be on my page like ‘Slide for Von’, I know they trollin me . . . Got it back in blood, y’all just don’t know, that’s how it ‘posed to be,” he raps on the song.
The feds allege that in response to the Chicago Rapper’s murder, Durk put a bounty on Quando’s head. Durk arranged for several members of his Only The Family (OTF) crew to fly from Los Angeles to Chicago. Looking to exact revenge. Feds also alleged that once the OTC crew landed, the rap star arranged for the crew members to stalk Rondo. And when Quando stopped at a gas station, the members opened fire — leaving Rondo’s cousin dead.
The trial was initially scheduled to begin this month, but has once again been delayed until May 2026.
