Megan Thee Stallion is fairly new to the rap game. But she has already accomplished so much. The rap star has sold over 2 million albums globally and has sold over 5 million career album units in the US alone as of May 2023, in addition to winning three Grammy awards.
Queen Latifah Gives Major Salute to Meg Thee Stallion
With Megan amassing such a prominent music career in such a short time, she is already being recognized by some of the all-time greats. During a recent appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, rap legend Queen Latifah championed Megan as the future of hip-hop.
“She’s so cool, she’s so fun, she’s so very talented and strong in her spot,” Latifah said during her appearance on Tuesday (October 28). “I love that energy carrying Hip-Hop into the future, of course.”
Queen Latifah linked up with Megan on the Coachella stage this spring where they performed a modern version of her song U.N.I.T.Y.
The rap legend seemed to be surprised that Megan asked her to hit the stage with her. And given how big the platform was, Queen knew she had to bring her A game.
“She asked me to pop out at Coachella, and I was like, ‘What? For real, OK?’ I had to bring it for her because this is Coachella, we gotta take that thing down,” Queen Latifah said. “The people are gonna be ready.”
She also expressed how grateful she was to Meg for the opportunity.
“I wanna thank her again for having me, it was so much fun,” she added. “They worked so hard, her dancers and everybody. It was just good energy that night.”
Rap Star Calls Out Paid Bots
But it hasn’t been all love for Meg. The rap star recently called out the recent uptick in the number of haters she has on social media. Noting that she believes that bots are being paid to sabotage her.
“Like, don’t it seem a little weird, like how overwhelming a lot of Megan Thee Stallion hate seems? Like, it doesn’t seem right, do it?” She said (via LiveBitez).
“It’s not, because people are getting paid to do this. These are bots, these are paid people. Like, if you scroll through some of these people’s tweets, it’s a man who’s been tweeting about sports for eight years. Now, all of a sudden, he just hates Megan Thee Stallion. These people are getting paid to do this. Stop listening to them. B*tch, their time’s up.”
