Atlanta rapper Ralo is weighing in on the ongoing conversation surrounding protective custody (PC) in the rap community, sharing details about his time behind bars.
In a recent statement, Ralo claimed that during his incarceration he was involved in more than 40 one-on-one fights across 11 different facilities, adding that some of those situations allegedly involved shanks. According to the rapper, he stood firm on his principles while locked up and refused to consider going into protective custody.
Ralo also made it clear that he would have rather faced extreme consequences than voluntarily enter PC, saying he didn’t want to spend his time isolated in a cell “staring at the wall all day.”
His comments align more closely with the stance taken by Boosie Badazz in the ongoing debate about prison codes and reputation. On the other side of the discussion, artists like Turk, Young Thug, and Kodak Black have shared perspectives that challenge that viewpoint.
The conversation has sparked intense reactions across social media, with fans and artists continuing to debate the expectations and realities surrounding protective custody within prison culture.
