Well, it finally happened. Former R&B star Ray J has officially stuck his foot too far in his own mouth. And it could cost him — both literally and figuratively. According to an October 1 report from TMZ, Kris Kardashian and Kim Kardashian have taken legal action against the reality star. Per the outlet, the mother-daughter duo is suing the “One Wish” creator for defamation of character.
Kardashians Sue Ray J For Defamation
TMZ reports that the Kardashians are being represented by celebrity attorney Alex Spiro. Spiro has represented the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Jay-Z, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams. In the filing, Spiro says that Ray Jay is “unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago.”
Ray J’s first offense against the Kardashian family occurred when he appeared on the Tubi documentary United States vs. Sean Combs. The production chronicles the investigation and trial of Bad Boy Founder, Sean “Diddy” Combs. Who was arrested on trafficking and racketeering charges in September 2024.
During Ray J’s appearance on the Tubi production, he accuses the Kardashians of being guilty of similar crimes.
“If you told me the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it,” he said, according to the outlet.
Ray J also recently doubled down on those claims during a September 24 stream with Zeus Network star Chrisean Rock.
During the stream, Ray J claimed that a RICO case was being built against the Kardashians. He also claimed that Diddy’s RICO would pale in comparison to the one allegedly coming the Kardashians’ way. He also took credit for supplying them with the information.
“The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy,” Ray J said during the stream. “I’m talking about, I’m on the news every day. I’ma say a lot of sh*t. Anybody who is cool with Kim needs to tell her now that the feds are coming. There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s worse than Diddy.”

How much Ray J is being sued for remains undisclosed. But Kim and Kris claim that the reality star’s comments have caused them”substantial and ongoing harm to their personal and professional reputation.”
Spiro also released a statement to the outlet, noting that this is the first time they have filed a defamation suit. Despite years of being in the public eye. But they claim that they were “left no choice” due to the severity of Ray J’s comments.
