Rick Ross attempted to play the celebrity card in order to expedite his release after turning himself in for battery. However, the judge was having none of it.

This morning, Ross was arrested for battery and strangulation.
According to TMZ, Ross surrendered to police, after a former girlfriend accused him of hitting her. The woman claims Ross took issue with a photo she was tagged in on social media. Ross allegedly struck the woman, choked her, and slammed her into a wall, continuing to do so every time she denied being in a secret relationship with another man.
Ross has pled not guilty to the charges and posted the $6000 bond required. However, when his attorneys stated Ross is a celebrity, arguing for an expedited release, Judge Mindy Glazer was not moved.
“I have no idea who you are,” she said, making it clear Ross will not get any special treatment on her account.
Ross’ attorneys have released the following statement.
“William Roberts II, professionally known as Rick Ross, is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear,’ Ross’ representation said. “The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.”
The description of the assault matches details shared by ex-girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick earlier this week. However, the identity of the victim is not known at this time.
Rick Ross' lawyer appeared in court today following Ross' arrest for alleged battery and argued that his release should be "expedited" due to his celebrity status, but Judge Mindy Glazer promptly denied the request:
