The hip-hop community is still mourning the loss of rising artist Lil Poppa, who passed away in February.
As tributes continue to pour in for the late rapper, the latest person to pay homage to the late rapper is Toie Roberts. She is also the daughter of rapper Rick Ross.
Toie Roberts Pens Heartfelt Message to Lil Poppa
Toie and Lil Poppa shared a child, PJ, who was born in 2022. Following her child’s father’s passing, Toie penned a heartfelt message to the rapper on social media.
“MYKEL..what’s understood don’t ever have to be explained, especially to the internet! nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all. Our reality is changing before my eyes,” she wrote in a social media post on Tuesday (March 3).
Lil Poppa took his own life on February 18 via a gunshot wound. Reports from TMZ and The Seattle Times indicated that he was involved in a car accident on I-85 in Hapeville, Georgia, shortly before the incident.
Despite the circumstances, Roberts says she knows that Lil Poppa did not mean to hurt her or their family.
“I’ve been wondering how you could be so in a rush to leave us so suddenly & torturing.. for us to go on without you in life,” She continued.
“But deep down, I know you didn’t mean to & you didn’t mean to hurt us. ESPECIALLY NOT KOFI.. at least NOT LIKE THAT!!! How tf you leave without saying you’ll see us later?! I really don’t understand & I feel played about it all, but I know you understand why.”
She also called out critics for speaking on things they “don’t know” about. Because at the end of the day, it was all love.
“Then they speak on what they THINK they know, I can’t lie, I’M OFFENDED. Y’ALL DON’T KNOW S**T! Y’ALL DON’T KNOW ME! DONT KNOW US!” she said. “The world publicly saw some of our worst moments, which we weren’t proud of, but the “beef” was never bigger than what we shared & created. THIS LIL THING OF OURS🫀2 young adults just trying to figure life out with so much riding on our backs. The 2 peas in a pod that turned into the BIGGG 3!”
