Rod Wave is facing a massive $27 million lawsuit after a concert promoter accused him of bailing on his “Last Lap Tour” and spending advance money on private jets and real estate instead of hitting the stage.
According to a federal suit filed by Grizzly Touring, the Florida star allegedly walked away with tens of millions in advance payments but failed to finish out his tour obligations. The company claims it fronted more than $57 million to cover Rod’s fees, production, insurance, and other costs—but says he only delivered 26 of the 35 scheduled shows.
“[Rod Wave] refuses to pay Grizzly a single penny of the more than $27 million he owes, and has instead chosen to spend his advance on private jets and lavish second homes,” Grizzly’s attorney Pravin Patel said in court docs.
The lawsuit points to an amended deal signed in February 2024, which guaranteed Rod over $40 million for the full run. Grizzly says he earned nearly $30 million from the shows he did complete, but abruptly pulled out of the remaining dates and never returned the rest of the advance.
The “Last Lap Tour” kicked off in October 2024 and was originally set to wrap in December, but delays reportedly mounted due to elaborate stage setups and production issues. By late January, Rod officially announced the cancellation of the tour, telling fans the problems had plagued the trek “from the beginning.”
Grizzly, however, paints a different picture. The company accuses Rod of falsely blaming them for routing and scheduling issues, insisting that wasn’t the case.
Meanwhile, the rapper is already pivoting to the next chapter. Just last month, he revealed the launch of his own touring company, Mainstay Touring, saying he wanted more control over how his live shows are run. “What even pushed me to want to be more hands-on with touring is just the fact that my last tour had to get taken down because of the routing,” Rod told Billboard. “I just wanted to be more in control.”
