Salt Comes to Chilli’s Defense Amid MAGA Support Backlash
Of course, after the leak went viral, Chilli became the subject of heavy backlash. Over her support for the Trump administration. However, at least one person still has her back. That person is Cheryl James. Better known as one half of the iconic duo, Salt-N-Pepa.
In a recent social media post, Salt encouraged Chilli to keep her head up and to tune out all of her critics.
“Chilli, please keep your pretty head all the way up, sister. This world is very quick to believe anything and everything posted on social media. Quick to crucify and slow to forgive,” she wrote in the post. “Even when you straighten it out, haters will always hate. We know you and your heart. I truly pray that you don’t shed not one tear or lose not one minute of sleep or peace over any of this.”
Salt publicly supported Chilli following her statement clarifying she is not MAGA and addressing a misunderstanding tied to her earlier support. After the financial records were leaked, Chilli released a statement. In the statement, she claimed that her donations to the Trump campaign were supposed to be in support of veterans and against human trafficking. Claiming that the leak was a big misunderstanding. However, many people were not buying her story.
Salt called out those critics for “bullying” Chilli. And said even amid the backlash, real fans will continue to support her.
“We got you, and any threat of not coming to the show from anyone will not stop us from loving on you and supporting you as a person and your legacy in music,” she added. “This is the type of bullying we as a people have to stand up to.
