Sexyy Red wants to clear her name from the ongoing legal dispute between her label and late producer Tay Keith.
In a post shared by MyMixtapez on X, court docs revealed that Tay Keith was suing rap artist Sexyyy Red. Over non-payment for several of her hit records, such as Get it Sexyyy and You My Everything. But she is now asking for her name to be removed from the case.
Sexyy Red Requests Her Name Be Removed From Tay Keith Dispute
In a letter to the trial judge obtained by TMZ, the Pound Town creator says that she is awaiting payment for several of her songs herself. And that she has no role in the ongoing dispute between Keith and her independent Miami-based label, Rebel Music.
“There are several songs that Tay Keith and I have worked on together that I haven’t received payment for yet. It’s just a process the label uses in making payments after all the money is recouped,” she wrote in the letter obtained by the outlet.
She also added:
“Tay Keith and I are great working partners and even greater friends. If the label owes him money, I’m sure they have started the process to get him paid.
A rep for the late producer also gave a statement to the outlet. And sided with Sexyy Red’s stance. The issue is with her label, not her as an artist.
“The dispute is between the parties’ respective labels, and naming Sexyy Red in the lawsuit was a legal formality. Any allegations are directed at the label, not Red personally,” the statement read.
The dispute surfaced in the wake of Tay Keith being found unresponsive in his apartment in Memphis, Tennessee, back in June. He was pronounced dead after police were called to do a welfare check on him. He was just 29 years old.
