Shannon Sharpe found himself in Nicki Minaj’s lyrical line of fire this week — and now he’s doing damage control.

The drama unfolded after Lil Wayne surprised fans with a new drop from his Carter 6 rollout, including a remix to “Banned From NO” featuring the Queen of Rap. In her verse, she delivered a slick jab:
“Bout to cop you slides, all you do is flip-flop / If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe.”
Fans quickly connected the shots to the Club Shay Shay host, and Sharpe responded on his Nightcap podcast with Chad Ochocinco.
Sharpe clarified that a previous post he shared — the one Nicki likely caught wind of — was actually aimed at former presidential candidate Nikki Haley, not Nicki Minaj. Still, he wasn’t ducking responsibility.
“Nicki, I apologize. I meant no disrespect. You’ll always have an open invitation if you ever want to come sit down and have a conversation. Even if you just want to have a private conversation on the phone or something. It won’t go any further between you and I.”
Nicki confirmed on X that the diss was indeed about him — and that Ochocinco catches strays too.
Elsewhere on the track, Minaj also seemed to aim her lyrical scope at Jay-Z, with lines that read like industry commentary:
“They know I don’t decline so they never face-card her / French Vanilla hazelnut in my Starbucks, NFL, fire some n****s, and then call us.”
Hopefully Sharpe’s apology earned him some grace.
