Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was relieved of his duties by the University on Wednesday (December 10). In a statement released by the school, they claimed Moore was being terminated because of an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
Shannon Sharpe Speaks Out About Sherrone Moore’s Termination
The news, of course, sent shockwaves through the entire sports community. And when former ESPN First Take host Shannon Sharpe got wind of Moore’s termination, he likened it to his own scandal earlier this year. During a recent episode of Nightcap, Sharpe said that the reason most men end up in these situations is that they think they are invincible.
“I think the thing is that all the situations that you’ve heard, you never think a situation like this can happen to you,. Even though you’re doing what you’ve heard about. I went through something very similar,” Sharpe said. “So, I know what that storm is like.”
Earlier this year, OnlyFans model Gabrielle Zuniga filed a $50 million civil suit against the NFL Hall of Famer. She accused Sharpe of sexual assault, battery, and emotional distress. During what she described as an abusive, long-term relationship that began in 2023. She also claimed he filmed sexual encounters without her consent.
Sharpe also noted that it is easy for outsiders to say what they would have done in those situations. But you can never truly say how you would react until you’ve been in it.
“That’s why when people say, ‘This is what I would do.’ You don’t know what you do until you’re in it. Until you’re in that pressure cooker. Until you are in the eye of the storm,” he continued. “Everything that you worked your entire life for, you feel like it’s crumbling right before your eyes. And the only people who’re going to be there are going to be a select few. That’s the hardest part.”
After he was terminated by the university, Moore was arrested as a suspect in an alleged assault. He remains in custody as of Thursday (December 11).
